Andrea Zorbas, Psy.D.

LICENSED CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST

FOUNDER THERAPY NOW SF AND PROFESSOR AT UNIVERSITY OF SAN FRANCISCO

“Dr. Andrea Zorbas was very helpful, immediately found the right approach and helped me a lot to tackle my anxiety. I am very thankful for that.”

“Dr. Zorbas is very attentive and easy to talk to. She helped me process things in different ways.”

My clients have said they appreciate my warm, yet direct style as a therapist, sounding board, coach, and educator. I work collaboratively with clients using humor and deep compassion for the human spirit.

Because we are all different, I tailor my sessions to best suit your needs and personality. My therapeutic approach is based in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), which has been shown to help gain control of anxiety, stress, and depression. I also draw on mindfulness techniques, which provide alternative ways to relate to your emotions, thereby helping you to understand and cope with your emotions better. Further, I incorporate Narrative Therapy into my therapeutic approach. Narrative Therapy focuses on uncovering your unique abilities, understanding your values, tapping into resilience, and gaining meaning around contextual factors (such as gender, race, sexual orientation, ethnicity, etc.).

As a nonjudgmental and sex-positive clinician, I welcome the opportunity to work with individuals in monogamous and open relationships, the LGBTQ community, challenges with porn addiction, and sexual disorders. And although I don’t work with couples anymore, I still draw on my previous work as a Professor of Sex Therapy, and Couples Therapy, to assist individuals make sense of their relationship dynamics.

I am also a consultant for unscripted television, supporting the cast during their time being filmed and for after-care.

As a former Professor, I taught classes in Consultation, Leadership, Theories, Couples Therapy and Human Sexuality. This allowed me to stay current on new research and treatment approaches in this ever-changing field.

In my free time I enjoy trying new restaurants, spending time with my dog Luna, seeing family and friends, tennis, pickleball, painting, and trying to cook Hello Fresh meals. One of my passions is travel as I love immersing myself in new cultures and foods. I love the beach and often head to Ocean beach on the weekends to take Luna for walks.
